Valentine's Day Crafternoon

Valentine's Day Crafternoon

I like to host a crafternoon at my home every couple of months. I generally invite the ladies from the neighborhood and its our opportunity to take a moment out of our lives, get together, do an easy craft, drink some wine, spill some tea, have a little snack and enjoy our time together. If you are not familiar with the term “crafternoon” I will tell you that I’m unsure it has a true definition. But in my world, it boils down to a lovely afternoon with friends.

Let’s start with refreshments. For a Valentine’s day crafternoon, I suggest a candy charcuterie board. I purchased all of these treats at Target in their Valentine’s seasonal candy section. Please see links at the end of the post if for whatever crazy reason you want to skip a trip to Target (huge Target fan here) and want to order directly to your home. For beverages, I usually offer flavored sparking water and both red and white wines.

I’ve found the best crafternoons are the ones with really easy crafts that allow max chat/snack time with guests. These adorable make-up bags fit the bill perfectly! They took less than 20 minutes to make, the rest of the time can be spent enjoying your time with your attendees. I made these cute pouches with scissors, fabric pens, iron on vinyl a hole punch, teflon iron protector sheet (to ensure you dont melt the vinyl) and an iron. Easy peasy.

For the single red heart pouch, I simply called on my elementary school skills and cut out a heart classic style by folding the vinyl in half and cutting the heart. For the pouch with pink glitter hearts, I used a classic heart paper hole punch with the iron on vinyl. It took some elbow grease to punch them out but in the end worked out perfectly. The “XOXOXO” pouch, I simply used fabric markets and drew the X’s and O’s on. I went back over them a second time to darken them up to make them pop.

Please see the supply list below for everything you need to pull of this crafternoon!
