Taking a trip down memory lane to Janie’s 1st birthday party which had an adorable shabby chic bunny theme. I love bunnies and grew up raising them. We even have a bunny as a house pet. I learned as a first time parent with Scout that a baby’s 1st birthday is really the only time parents get to choose a kiddo’s party theme. By the second birthday, kids will develop strong feelings about what they like and what theme their party should be. I saw this as my chance to get to throw a bunny party.

At this time, I did not have a Silhouette cutting machine, but our local Ben Franklin crafts let you use their die cutting machine if you purchased your paper at their store. I also had purchased a few crafting punches (scalloped edge, and round) that still are my favorite tool to make the cupcake rounds.

Photos here are provided for inspiration since many of the items are no longer available almost 10 years later, but there are so many awesome party products I would use if I had the opportunity to throw this bunny first birthday party again! Check them out at the bottom of the post!

My girls each received Tiffany bunny banks from their daddy when they were born and we used them as part of the table display with all of the delicious candy and sweet treats that went along with the party theme. I love that Janie is still a bunny lover like her mom so my selection of this birthday party theme is still one she appreciated.

My inspiration, besides the bunnies was the adorable pink floral, blue polka dot and pinwheel material that I found at my local Ben Franking crafts. I used pinking shears to create some no-sew pennant banners and used iron on fusing material and hand cut the designs for Janie’s smock and Scout’s big sister bunny shirt.

I pulled out some of my bunny Easter decorations to help with the bunny theme. I found the most adorable photo invitations off of Etsy and made photo stickers at Costco with Janie on them to embellish the water bottles and cups. All the stuff I did by hand then, would be so much easier now with my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutter, which I recieved before her second birthday.
