Frozen Birthday Party
This is a bit of a throwback party (my girls were so little here!!!), but in light of the release of Frozen 2, we know that this theme will be a hit all over again.
The original Frozen movie was released around Thanksgiving in 2013 and by early 2014 there had yet to be the explosion of all things Frozen that ultimately followed. Scout was determined to have a Frozen theme birthday party, so we had to create a lot of the elements ourselves. Now there is so much out there on Etsy and even in the party stores that would make the process much easier than buying up all the snowflake things I could use after the holiday season. Cindy & I combined our holiday decor and party elements to create a winter wonderland. The best part was getting to leave all my the snowflake holiday decorations up until Scout’s party in early February. We even brought in some of our outside snowflake to create a twinkly atmosphere that was hard to photograph, but was impactful with our young guests!
My aunt made these adorable Elsa and Anna originals for them, complete with a detachable sheer cape on Elsa’s gown and hand drawn embellishments on Anna’s skirt. Janie and Clara were so thrilled to wear them. I will never forget the pandemonium that was created by the demand vs. Disney’s lack of Elsa dress inventory that year. It was the talk of my mom’s group!
I used the Silhouette Cameo and some adorable Snow Princess clipart to create a lot of the embellishments for the party, including centerpieces, a framed artistic movie quote printable, cupcake toppers, place card stickers, milk bottle stickers, and the marshmallow snack bag topper. The snowman parts printables were one of the few cute things I was able to find online at the time and were an easy way to impress the kids with themed snacks.
The activities we created for this party ended up being a lot of fun for these kindergarten aged kids. Instead of doing a piñata, we created a candy snowball with packing tape and tissue paper. Packaged candy was inside and the kids all sat in a circle taking turns trying to open the package with their gloved hands. We used music from the Frozen soundtrack to help identify when it was time to pass the snowball.
There was a station where the guests made Olaf marshmallow shooters with out of paper cups and a trimmed balloon. Then there was a station to practice using their marshmallow shooters. Scout insisted we play a game of “freeze tag” where Scout, dressed as Elsa, controlled the freezing. At the time, we just turned the music off and on when she waved her wand, but now I am sure that an Alexa app could be used to make it even more magical.
Another of my favorite elements of this party was based off of Sven the Reindeer. We used the Silhouette Design Studio to find this adorable Reindeer Treat Bag Holder design by Amy Robison. Technically it is a Christmas design, but I just left that portion of the design and filled the treat bags with chocolate covered raisins.

Frozen Printables and cupcake toppers were made on the Silhouette Cameo software using these great Snow Princess clip art graphics. Keep in mind there wasn’t a lot of Frozen party merchandise in the stores at that time.

Knit gloves - You could use any color combination. Years ago, I found a blue and white set 2 pack for $0.99 each so I split the sets and it made a useful and fun party favor.
Talking Olaf Toy - This was from 2014, but is still available on Amazon (but we are willing to bet that if you are throwing a Frozen themed party, you have some Frozen toys around your house already).
Frozen Banners: I made mine with my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutter, but there are some really cute ones available on Etsy and Amazon. This snowflake birthday banner is pretty cute, and check out this collection of winter party decor that will go great with it. And look at this adorable party game!! Amazon even carries this icy winter photo backdrop to help you get those awesome party photos, especially with these photo props! If I were throwing this party again, I would be tempted to use these Olaf themed printables or this pack of Frozen party printables with a Scandinavian flair.
Wooden kids easel - This is an easy way to include a welcome sign or party details. Our easel is similar to this one. A few years ago, I put a gray layer of chalk paint on ours to give it a more polished look. I often tape decorations, attach balloons to it, or incorporate it in the games.
Framed Chalkboard - The one I used was purchased at Aaron Brother’s, but is similar to this one.
