Danger Disco 8th Birthday Party

Jensen Danger turns 8! Jensen is a huge music and dancing fan so a disco-themed party was a no-brainer, Jensen LOVED the idea when I brought it to him. I wanted to use bright and cheery colors to match his fun personality. I focused the party around yellow, electric blue, pink, white, and grounded it out with black and white. I also added in disco balls at every corner to really bring the outdoor decor to life!

This kid is pretty amazing. He is so kind and caring about everyone he meets. He’s friends with everyone in our neighborhood, regardless of age. It’s not uncommon to get texts from neighbors telling us about how Jensen came over during the day and hung out with their family. Everyone loves him and his sweet soul. He loves to read books and share snacks with everyone he meets. Truly one of a kind kid! Because he is loved by all, his birthday parties generally draw a large crowd of the entire neighborhood, whole families come by to help celebrate this wonderful kid. He is so loved!

I have been dabbling a bit with my Glowforge (laser printer) and made this adorable 16” “Happy Birthday Jensen” sign. I think it turned out great and am excited we can use it again and again for his future birthdays.

Jensen helped decide on what he wanted for his cake. Blue frosting with cookies shaped like old records and tapes. We enlisted the help of two local bakers, Lydia at Lydia’s bakery and Amy at Amy’s Cookies who worked together to create this fun cake.

I have been wanting a good excuse to purchase a white bounce house and Jensen’s party was the perfect bash to go all in on! I ordered the bounce house on Alibaba and it took about a month to arrive. We will get a lot of life out of the bounce house but I must warn, it’s a pain to clean, take down and store. I highly recommend renting vs. purchasing.

Jensen’s middle name is really “Danger” so we had to incorporate it into the theme. The party was titled “Jensen’s Danger Disco”. Not only did the party have a title, but also had a logo. Once I had the logo created, we made custom water bottle stickers and a vinyl sticker with the logo made for the white bounce house. The logo was used on the invite as well as the goodie bag gifts. I used “Printastic Studio” on Etsy to create the branding for this party. It was easy and fun to do! I had the water bottle stickers and removable vinyl stickers made by Sticker Mule.

I am a big fan of Alpha Lit numbers and letters. I have worked with this company in both SLC and Seattle. You can rent numbers or letters directly from their website. They then drop off and set up the light-up display and pick up afterward your event. It’s so easy! I love working with Alphalit Seattle! Cakepops by Rachel

The adorable cake pops were made by a local cake pop artist named Rachel. I have worked with her many times before and she ALWAYS nails it. She works with the same bakery where I generally order cakes and cookies. I LOVE how the team of talented bakers work together to bring party themes to life.

The colorful fringe hung up throughout the party space was made by Glamfete by Bri.

#8 was rented from Alphalit Seattle

Erin had the idea to use the dark black linens to allow for the place settings pop, colorful confetti and disco balls running down the table sparkle. Best decision ever.

I generally go the easy route for kids parties when it comes to food and decided to order pizza. I got the idea to spray paint pizza stands from the Sugar and Cloth blog and loved the look. We used silver backdrop fringe to drape across the table. It turned out fun and messy looking, in a good way!

Sometimes simpler is better. I had big plans to cover the photobooth backdrop with tons and tons of balloons but as we were putting it up, we decided to take a more minimalist approach. I absolutely love the way it turned out! I had a ton of old photobooth props lying around and we used those. It was fun to see what the kids chose to put on. We saw bunny ears, witch hats with oversized disco glasses, it was so much fun!

Custom made disco floor for one

My husband Shane is the true creative in this home and he decided he wanted to make a disco floor for one. I have to say, this picture doesn’t do the floor justice, it is a work of art. The floor resides in our permanent haunted disco closet (yes, we have one). This floor will likely make an appearance at most of our events going forward!

I definitely have an obsession when it comes to disco balls, at the last count we have 38 in total. I don’t regret any one of them. The balls have been used over and over again. I purchased most of the disco balls directly from Amazon in all different shapes and sizes.

I purchased 5” and 11” Tuftex brand balloons for the garlands. I used the Tuftex colors of hot pink, yellow, white and blue, all linked below.

I love the idea of mixing the bright disco colors, disco balls with plain wood utinsels. The juxtaposition makes it fun and surprising. I used my Glowforge to print out hot pink acrylic name plates for each invited kid. They loved being able to take home a little something extra personal to them.

Once we had a branded logo for the party, we applied it to the stickers, gift tags and the invite.

We had a blast celebrating this amazing kid! Happy 8th birthday, Sweet Jensen!!!

Latex balloons are in 5” and 11”. One package of each size should be more than plenty for multiple garlands. Silver mylar balloons were used for the photobooth backdrop, garlands and in the bounce house. They are inexpensive, order a few of each style.
