Easter Brunch - Covid Holiday Adjustment

Easter Brunch - Covid Holiday Adjustment

Easter has always been my favorite holiday. I love Spring, the promise of rebirth and new life, PLUS I really love rabbits. I grew up raising rabbit and therefore I have collected bunny decor items for many years. I’ve found the lead up to Easter is the best time to find great rabbit items that I end up using year round. Unfortunately, this year has been very different! We’ve all been quarantined and everything feels strange.

I had made plans for what our family Easter would be like this year. After a recent kitchen remodel, we were hoping to have the opportunity to host family at our house. I got excited about decorating for guests, and getting to put together some of my beloved bunny pieces, even purchasing a few new items. Now that we are all staying home and celebrating as just a family of five, I spent some time contemplating what the holiday should look like for our family. Once I had some time to marinate in my feelings, I concluded that what we need most is to uphold our traditions, make the day special, and celebrate anyway!

The first step for me was setting up a pretty Easter brunch table. I didn’t get the blue gingham table runner, pretty napkins and corresponding chargers I originally envisioned, but I did pull out some of my bunny collection along with some pretty heirloom stemware and set up a table. It made me feel happy! I encourage you to chase your own happy, whatever that may be.

I adore these Floral Bunny plates from Pottery Barn. I actually use them for everyday dishes in the spring. I layered them over my white dinnerware from Crate & Barrel. The pink plaid table runner was a wedding present and is layers with a Threshold Acacia Serving Tray from Target. The greenery was also from Target along with the egg nest centerpiece.

Today our neighborhood has a magical visit from the Easter Bunny. We typically have an Easter egg hunt but were forced to cancel this year. Our family was thrilled to see our neighborhood bunny still made the rounds for a socially distanced visit and photo opportunity. Upholding this tradition really made me happy!

In addition to setting up a pretty table and seeing the Easter Bunny, we also decorated eggs and made Bunny Kringla (a family favorite). Carrying out these traditions made me feel more connected to the holiday and also created joy. Wishing you a beautiful holiday with your family! It will probably feel different this year, but hold on to those traditions, the things you can still do and enjoy!

By the way, last Easter year my mom bought us the EggMazing Easter Egg Decorator and my kids loved trying it out. It was easy enough for my 5 year old to use and made clean up a breeze.
