When Life Gives You Lemons - Lemonade Party

Every summer my kiddos LOVE to have a lemonade stand. Our neighborhood is perfect for them and they typically sell out to all their pals within an hour. One year their lemonade stand morphed into an impromptu block party when I offered to spike the adult lemonades purchased. I didn't want them to miss out on this summertime tradition when they are already giving up so much this year, so we had a back yard family lemonade party instead.

What better theme for the year: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

A lot of the components for this little backyard party were purchased last Spring at Dollar Tree. They include the lemon wedge napkins and plates, the yellow popcorn cups (which I embellished), the candy jars and yellow candy (lemon butter mints and Lemon-heads) and the yellow tassel garland. Dollar Tree also has added a new collection of craft supplies so I have picked up some of the foam adhesive, crafting twin and glue dots that were also used in this project. These garlands are super cute but require about 40 minutes of assembly time vs. others that can be purchased for more money but are far more convenient.

I found the adorable lemon nesting dishes that are actually measuring cups at the Target Dollar Spot. I found yellow polka dot straws from my local party store. I created the rest of the signs and embellishment with my Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutter and pulled in some black and white accents, like frames and B&W gingham table runners from past events.

Some of the printed pieces are from a FREE lemonade printable set from the Yellow Bliss Road. This includes the LEMONADE banner, drink tags and straw flags. There are other elements in the collection including some coordinating signs that I didn’t use so be sure to check them out!

The lemon balloons were created using 10 inch yellow balloons that were not fully inflated, but squeezed in the middle to create the lemon shape after they were tied off. I added a paper leaves that were the same as the lemon banner (if I make this again, I will make them bigger) and attached them on with glue dots.

From the Silhouette Design Store I purchased the:

Turning sour into sweet with a lemonade themed event!

The large background was something left over from one of my husband’s projects that I painted. I love repurposing stuff that we already have for parties. Bonus if the items are easy to store!! I think I will be adding trim to this next because I see it being very useful for future parties!

The lemons are cut with medium cardstock and the black lettering is transfer vinyl. The vinyl was easy to cut with my Silhouette Cameo and adhere to the painted board using transfer material.
