Transformer - Rescue Bot Birthday Party

Roll to the Rescue… Callen Turned THREE!!

Callen has been fascinated by vehicles and machines since he was about nine months old. By the time he was turning three he was obsessed with the Transformers Rescue Bots! For those unfamiliar, Rescue Bots are the Transformers collection aimed at a young audience (versus those depicted in the more violent blockbuster movie franchise). He had collected the core group of Rescue Bots for Christmas. He played with them all of the time and we later discovered that Netflix had a Rescue Bot series. By the time his birthday arrived in April, there was no doubt in his mind as to how he wanted to celebrate his birthday.

A few months before his party, we jokingly challenged Cindy’s husband to make a Rescue Bot for Callen. Never one to back down from such a challenge, Shane created the amazing Optimus Prime out of cardboard for Callen. This thing actually transformed from a bot to a semi truck! Callen just adored this creation and played with/in it months after the party.

I found some of the fun Rescue Bot Printables for this party at 5M Creations: Rescue Bot Team & Logo, Rescue Bot Happy Birthday Banner. I used the characters from the sign to cut out and create the cake toppers and party centerpiece. In the Silhouette Design Studio software and electric cutter, I created a Transformer mask cut that I used to make Callen’s party logo. I also added the logo to a personalized shirt for Callen with iron-on vinyl.

We used a fun primary(ish) colors scheme to match the colors of the individual Rescue Bots. I had the tissue paper pinwheels left over from a previous party, but similar ones can be purchased here. I added Callen’s name and the colorful cut of Gears from Echo Park and Steampunk Gears using a design from the Silhouette Design Store. VonLOVED Boutique offers a great Rescue Bot Centerpiece option as well. I found the paper table runner at Marshall’s on clearance (similar to this (25 ft.) paper runner), but the cloth version is now available much cheaper than the paper.

I used the Letterbox from Heidi Swapp for the Roll to the Rescue tagline. The black and white was a nice contrast to the colorful table.

For party favors, guests were able to take home these adorable Rescue Bot Felt Masks. Callen loved role playing bots with all his pals. We also sent guests home with several of these Self-inking Transformer Stamps. I also included these awesome Fubble No-Spill Bubbles in the gift bags. I made a fold-over wrap with the Rescue Bot graphics and gave each guest a themed bag of M&M’s, which look perfect with the color scheme, similar to the ones sold here. All favors were handed out in bright colored favor bags with a personalized Rescue Bot themed sticker, made with my Silhouette electronic cutter.

The green polka dot popcorn boxes were on the table so that guest could help themselves to the fun treats on the table. I tried to match one with each of the Rescue Bot colors.

The bright yellow cake was purchased from our local grocery store. The paper cut-out toppers were added to complete the theme. This is a great way to get the cake look you want, while saving some money!
