Sweet Colbie's Ice Cream Celebration

Creating this adorable classic ice cream celebration for a sweet Colbie to celebrate her 10th birthday with friends was so much FUN!! Colbie and her mom were open to any decor ideas that I came up with making it a thrill for me to run with my decoration ideas. Right away I envisioned using the sweet treat cart, running with a sprinkle theme, and of course pastel colors. The photos below are what we came up with!

I found some classic ice cream shop styled party printable on Etsy that I used for this project. Most of them I printed on my home printed and cut out. With the large poster print on the ice cream cart, I had printed at Office Depot and mounted on the cart with glue dots.

For the balloons, I ordered the 5 inch and 11 inch Kalisan pastel collections and then used 3 large round 36” balloons that were not fully inflated. I love this color combination and think that they are perfect for an ice cream or sherbet party. I made the sprinkles with a different brand of balloons that are a little darker. Exact balloons linked at the bottom.

Colbie’s grandma made the fun and colorful ice cream cone cake that was the centerpiece of the sweet cart. I added the mini marquee lights and a mini balloon garland. To the other side, I made a fun balloon sundae decor piece and then added some framed art prints with table top easels at varying heights. I used an ice cream cone holder but instead of ice cream filled them with different colors of cotton candy. I added an old fashioned straw container and large container of sprinkles.

On the table, I kept the display simple so that the whole group of guests could sit with the party girl at the table and enjoy ice cream together. I used some light pink sheer table runners gathered together and then covered with “sprinkle” balloons. I used mini wood risers down the middle to display the super cute mini ice cream truck favor boxes. The rest of the favor boxes were set out on the buffet table.

I loved the ice cream cone plates and the mini plastic ice cream cups and spoons. I mixed up the colors for a whimsical effect. I used the pink and teal napkins from Target. I also had pink smaller napkins with sprinkles on them for the sweet cart and ice creat sundae station, but kept the solid color ones on the table so the design wouldn’t get too busy.

For the ice cream bar, I found these adorable plastic lidded containers at Dollar Tree and the 4 part topping divider. The mini scoops and tongs for the toppings also came from Dollar Tree. I used a marble riser from Target and then used some framed signs and a balloon sundae decoration to surround the space. Colbie’s mom found a great collection of toppings. The ice cream was kept in a Revo cooler to the side along with the whip cream.

The balloon sundae was made using a spray painted flower pot, a tissue paper puff not opened up all the way and then hot glued the round balloon to the tissue and then both into the flower pot. I added a half inflated 5” balloon on top to make a cherry and then glued on hand cut bits of card stock in pink, blue, yellow and white. I made two rolled paper cookies and used colored washiest tape to decorate them.

The teal frame was left over from a previous event but was the perfect pop of color and height for the set up. I took out the print inside and then layered two colors of removable vinyl cut with my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutter to create an easy personalized sign.

The sprinkle mini balloons were created by using pastel twisting balloons and inflating them fully with a hand pump, then letting out the air to the desired size and tying them off. once tied, you cut the remaining portion off, then knot it again and start over. Each long balloon made 4 mini sprinkles. Admittedly, the little balloons are fairly time consuming, but have a big impact. I used a different brand of balloons so the colors were not the same as the larger balloons and then added white to resemble real sprinkles.

Above the party table I added a little balloon garland and attached it to the chandelier. I used the same balloons as in the larger garland, but combined the colors and then added the mini sprinkles as well.

Colbie had a fabulous time celebrating her 10th birthday with friends. In addition to the ice cream sundae party, they had a photo scavenger hunt in the neighborhood and played a fun game where they took turns unwrapped a giant ball of cling wrap and revealed fun little prizes.

Here are some other planned parties we have created based on popular celebrations that we have thrown. Click on the photo collage to an additional post with curated items linked so creating an amazing party is easy and affordable.
