Gwyneth's Glam Pink 16th Birthday Bash

We recently had the opportunity to help a special teen celebrate her 16th birthday in style! Gwyneth’s mom came to us a few weeks before the celebration seeking some help with a few decor elements. She had already made a lot of the plans herself including purchasing some of the decor pieces. As the event approached and their family schedule filled in, she asked if we could come in and help.

To create this balloon backdrop look, I started with the garland kit that was already purchased (linked below) and added additional soft pink and then the canyon rose muted coral balloons to blend the other tone and warm up what was already included in the garland kit. Some of the colors included were double stuffed and while the colors were nice, they were harder to work with than the double stuffed balloons we create ourself (typically with Tuftex or Qualatex brands). The up side of purchasing a kit is that you get a nice variance of sizes and colors for your money. In this case some of the 5” did not match the 9” or the extra large balloons that they were intended to match once they were inflated. Doing them in a blend like this arch helped conceal that color variance vs a color block technique.

My husband made these white wood balloon stands and then I used removable vinyl that was cut with my Silhouette cameo electronic cutter to personalize the backdrop.

For the dessert table, I created a personalized sign with gold and pink vinyl attached to a clear acrylic sign. This allowed the backdrop to be personalized in the look the client wanted without spending a lot on a large name element. The rest of the decor was simple with the champagne gold curtains, layered table runners with faux floral elements and some gold metal and acrylic risers.

I love working with the foam flowers! They are easy to incorporate into designs and come in a wide range of color options. You can buy pre-made floral garlands or add flowers to simple greenery to create your own custom took like I did here. Even the arrangements are foam flowers added to mini faux eucalyptus plants.
