Glam Lumberjack Whiskey Tasting
I had so much fun helping style this outdoorsy, flannel themed, whiskey tasting party. My friend Erika asked me to collaborate with her to create some fun decor build incorporating the red and black buffalo check flannel material. The event was for a small group, and took place mainly outside and under a covered patio, but the location suited the Glam Lumberjack vibe perfectly.
I like to create a main table for food and beverages and cluster some fun decor pieces together. For this table I layered some table runners over a black tablecloth and added a faux evergreen garland to the buffalo check and gold sequins. We used fresh cut wood rounds from a recent tree removal at the party site to give the decor some varied depth as well as playful, lumberjack vibes.
On the table, I also included some fun Whiskey Tasting signs that I purchased from Etsy (linked below). I added a mini whiskey barrel from a local distillery, some vintage looking LED red lanterns, and faux axes that I painted in gold and glitter spray paint. I felt they were essential carrying out the the lumberjack glam look!
I set up the photo booth outside and used a natural wood vinyl photo backdrop. This backdrop has a nice matte finish so it photographs well. I built a balloon arch around the backdrop with Qualatex balloons in red, black, white, and gold. I was able to tuck in some natural greenery, also from the removed tree on site. The greenery helped connect the balloons to a theme, especially with the adorable print and cut lumberjack photo props that I created from printable set I purchased on Etsy. The golden axe makes a lovely photo prop as well!
The hostess created these adorable tin cups for each guest. She wrapped each one in coordinating black and red buffalo check plaid and secured with crafting twine.
The outdoor table is simple with the table runner, some citronella candles, an outdoor lantern and some natural greenery. The mason jars were filled with battery operated fairy lights so when it got dark they looked like fireflies in jars. A jar with individual bags of S’mores fixings were set out. A perfect accompaniment for the chili dinner, whiskey sampling, campfire and yard games.
Each guest was asked to bring a bottle of whiskey to share for the tasting. There ended up being up a nice collection to be enjoyed throughout the night. The hostess set out mixers and garnishes next to the whiskey bar.
I placed the printed whiskey signs in sprayed gold frames and then selected two designs to create vinyl signs with. I used my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine to cut the SGV files I purchased on Etsy from Cricut brand vinyl. I placed one on a black framed mini chalkboard, and another on a painted white craft sign. By changing up the positive and negative space, sizes and frames, the simple signs added a lot to the design without being a lot of work or costing a lot to create.
