Cheers to 40 Years! - A Champagne Celebration

Last October, I celebrated my 40th Birthday. My husband and Cindy, along with some amazing friends, threw me a fantastic champagne-themed birthday celebration I will surely remember for the next 40 years.

When I decided that I would like to have a champagne celebration, I became fixated on having a champagne fountain in my living room like some ‘80s wedding. My husband found one to rent, along with the glassware. While it was fun to have, admittedly, the champagne didn’t taste great when it went through it so it was better for punch. Renting the glasses was a great choice. It helped the party feel a bit classier and made for really easy cleanup since you can return them unwashed. Locally, we used R&R Rentals and were happy with the service and friendly delivery. We had noticed the “champagne wall” on other party idea blogs and my husband decided to make one. He whipped it out easily and I used my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine to make the “Cheers to Erin’s 40 years” in gold vinyl. The wall gave a fun wow factor when guests arrived and made for easy beverage service.

Cindy helped make the balloon displays. It took quite a while to blow up so many balloons. If we plan to do more of these in the future, we should get a machine to help because our cheeks were sore at the end of the project. I added some clear balloons to those that came in the kit to make two balloon displays. The kit came with a plastic tape that made it easy to hook in each balloon. It would have been a challenge to make the larger display without that tool, making the splurge on the kit completely worth it.

I love a good photo booth at a party, mostly because it gives an excuse to have photos with those that attend. I am always the person that is taking photos at events or family gatherings and when there is a photo booth or props, I feels like everyone is more willing to pose. A few glasses of champagne helps as well! The photos from the photo booth at this party mean so much to me as I look back and feel the love of the whole celebration.

We now use photo backdrop frames like this one, but in the past I have hung backdrops on curtain rods or even pinned them to the wall. I use a auto-focusing camera with an external flash for good lighting that is virtually foolproof. In addition to the fun props, we used toasting Chambongs! This is a favorite fun gift that I have given several times over the years and for my 40th, my dear friend gifted me a set in return. We put them to good use with many “cheers” to my 40 years!
