Teacher Appreciation Crafts from a few years ago…

My kids all miss their teachers so much right now! We are doing okay at home with the school work, but those special relationships with someone outside the home are so important to their individual development. It is hard for them to not get that face to face connection. I know the teachers are missing their students too!

Being in quarantine has encouraged us to get creative with our channels of appreciation. This year we have sent some photos, written some letters, and sent electronic gift cards. In years past our elementary school has had fun activities for simple gestures throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. One of the crafts we have made were these sweet (and very inexpensive) floral candy jars.

I made a personalized tag with my Silhouette Cameo electric cutter. I found both the “Big Hearts” message and the flower cut in the Silhouette Design store. I used a glue gun to adhere the flower to the top of a small wide mouth mason jar filled with Hershey kisses. The personalized tags are attached with fun black and white crafters twine. I love these small gifts which are great for bus drivers, specialists like the music or P.E. teachers and even for those who lead after school activities, like a sports coach or Girl Scout troop leader.

If you don’t have an electronic cutter, you could cut out a tag by hand, or use these pre-made tags. You can find them in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and embellish them with hand lettering and stickers. Or you could get creative and add any fun elements to decorate your jars.

I like to be prepared with simple craft elements like jars, blank tags, candy and embellishments in case an occasion pops up where we might want to give a small, gesture gift. We have left these this sort of jar full of Hershey “hugs” for neighbors when they have lost a special pet or to celebrate a special occasion.
