Colorful Thanksgiving Table

This year in a global pandemic, we totally understand everyone’s desire to get into the holiday spirit and move right along to Christmas, a comforting holiday that brings joy and peace to so many. I get it 100%. I had to fight the urge to bypass decorating for Thanksgiving and jump right to Christmas and glad I did, we were able to bring to life a colorful table that I am so excited about and it was so easy to do too!

To create this look, I started by getting together a color palette of paints, faux leaves and sponge brushes. I painted approx 12 leaves in each color. For the lighter colors I used the lighter leaves and had to double coat.

I used my Halloween decorative pumpkins to garnish the leaves running down the table along with some candlesticks. For the place settings we used a jewel toned green base plate and an adorable appetizer pumpkin plate. We added some glass milk bottles and adorned them with teal and gold ribbons and then added an orange striped straw. Lastly, we added some pops of color in the napkins and gold and white cutlery. The adorable napkins and pumpkin plates were seasonal items from Target and are no longer available. I have listed some alternative ideas for these items below.

Thanksgiving 2007 I was pregnant with my first child and uncomfortable so we decided to wear our comfy cozy PJ’s all day long and its now become a tradition for our little family. A week or two prior to Thanksgiving we all head to Target to pick out some new PJ’s to wear ALL Thanksgiving day. I highly recommend adopting this tradition for your family as well.

Growing up, my favorite place to be on Thanksgiving was always the kids table so now I just make the main table the kids table for everyone. I add coloring sheets and crayons to each place setting. Keeping it youthful keeps it fun and light and my family loves it and when we are lucky enough to have guests, they have a wonderful time too.
